Welcome! I’m Dave Balzer. This website and my business Holistic Health and Performance, LLC was created to help promote health and wellness to those in need. Throughout my clinical career I've seen the power of many therapeutic interventions, but by far the most powerful intervention to healing and performance is knowledge. True health improvement comes through empowering individuals and giving them the tools to promote self-healing. Sure, there are many potent therapeutic interventions that can be used along the way to assist in this healing process. These therapeutic techniques are beneficial and often required, but there is no greater tool than the body's innate capacity to heal and be resilient... sometimes it just needs a guide for that journey. So, on that note... thank you for your interest in health and performance!
I am a practicing physical therapist and health coach. I have a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Franklin Pierce University. I am also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Nutrition Coach. My practice offers a wide range of virtual and in-person services. I have extensive experience providing online health, nutrition, pain management, and wellness services to clients throughout the country. I also currently provide in-home concierge physical therapy in Virginia.

My running buddy... Woody Balzer
In my clinical career, I have been fortunate to work in many diverse and enlightening settings. The combination of these unique professional experiences, a constant pursuit of continuing education, and expert mentorship has helped evolve my clinical approach to be more holistic and client-centered. My practice is based on the health pillars of movement, nutrition, sleep, mindfulness, and community.
Throughout my career I have worked with clients across the lifespan from 8 years old to 106, who were recovering from a wide range of issues such as orthopedic dysfunction/surgery, neurological degenerative conditions, chronic pain, sports performance, cardiopulmonary dysfunction, cancer, trauma, motor vehicle accidents, depression, chronic falls, and end of life care… so mostly anything related to physical and stress-related issues/pain. This diverse client population -- weekend warriors, grandparents looking to keep up with grandkids, young professionals looking for a health change, business executives seeking longevity, professional athletes, and those “stuck” individuals who have exhausted all options and labeled as “failed patients” -- proved formative in developing my clinical approach. The one common denominator in assisting these clients in healing: empowering individuals through a holistic lifestyle approach, integrating body and mind, to help you heal and thrive without pain, stress, or dysfunction.
I currently live in Charlottesville, Virginia working as a Travel PT with my fiancé Brittany, who also received her DPT from Franklin Pierce University. We are accompanied on our travel journeys by our goldendoodle, Woody!
